Sherbourne Preschool provides a progressive, high quality learning environment for early childhood education by:

Rated Exceeding - National Quality Standard

  • Creating a calm, welcoming and challenging environment that encourages individuality and creativity.
  • Extending and developing self-image and confidence.
  • Developing and using expectations for community living – which include respect, caring, sharing and group communication.
  • Combining the needs and interests of the individual, and the group in the program.
  • Extending curiosity and the love of learning with fun, stimulating and original activities.
  • Developing independent thinking by recognising the value of children’s contributions and seeing children as active learners.
  • Appreciating the process of learning as well as the end product.

Our Teachers

Our educational philosophy and approach is supported and promoted by Jessica Reilly (4 year old teacher) and Narelle Allen (3 year old teacher).

Enthusiastic and qualified kindergarten teachers who plan and implement quality experiences for both kindergarten groups, they are assisted by caring assistants who are an integral part of our early learning centre.

Our Program

Our program creates a positive and supportive learning environment focusing on the development of the whole child. Activities are planned to promote learning in all developmental domains – social, emotional cognitive, language and physical.

It's play-based and interest-based

As play is considered to be one of the most important ways a child can learn about their world. Ideas for activities and events are sourced from the children’s interest.  This approach is due to the belief that children learn more if they are interested in what they are learning and have input into the direction of their learning. The program activities (eg. excursions and focuses) change from year to year, depending on the interests and needs of the group.

Parent/Carer involvement

Your involvement is encouraged through:

  • Participation in the educational programs and activities at Sherbourne Preschool.
  • Participation in social events.
  • Membership of the Management Committee.
